Join the Community Garden

Registration is closed for 2024. All the plots are reserved.

We have 114 beds in our community garden measuring 10’ x 4’. Each bed is $20, and you can purchase up to four.

The garden is near Joseph Campau and McLean in Detroit (12500 Joseph Campau).

Sylhet Farm Community Garden has three goals:

  1. Community Building

  2. Education

  3. Food Production

The purpose of renting a garden bed is to take responsibility and commit to caring for this beautiful garden with others.

$20 Seasonal garden bed includes:

  • Dates: May 12 -October 31, 2024

  • Monthly classes about garden planning, organic growing basics, nutrition, preservation, soil maintenance, compost, and more.

2024 Garden Rules and Expectations

Responsibility: Each gardener is responsible for the maintenance of their garden plot. Maintenance includes but is not limited to watering, weeding, harvesting, and other garden tasks. Each gardener is also responsible for the general upkeep of the area surrounding their garden bed.

Tools: Each gardener is responsible for bringing their tools. We occasionally lend out a limited supply of tools, so please get in touch with us if you need something specific, and we will try our best to help.

Watering: Gardeners are responsible for watering their beds. We will work to ensure the water totes are full at all times. Please communicate with other gardeners if you need support watering your bed.

Use of chemicals: We aim to grow all our produce organically in the garden. Please only use organic products for pest management and weeds.

Fencing and hours: The community garden is fenced with a locked gate. It is open every day at 7 am and will be closed at 8 pm.

Pets: Out of respect to others, please, no pets in the garden.

Service commitment: Garden plots should be cared for at least once a week. The gardener must notify the coordinator if they cannot care for their plot in any given week. If any plot is unattended for more than three weeks, the plot may be subject to reassignment.

Harvest: Gardeners may harvest from their garden only. If fruit or vegetables are beyond ripe, we will inform the gardener, and if they are not harvested promptly, we will do it and donate.
